As New Year's Eve celebrations draw near, Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisor🍷y to ensure smooth movement and public safety in key areas across the capital. Popular destinations like Connaught Place, India Gate, and Hauz Khas are expected to see large crowds as people gather to ring in the new year with family and friends. To manage the increased footfall and vehicle traffic, Delhi Police is rolling out a robust security and traffic control plan.
To maintain order and safety, the Delhi Traffic Police will deploy appro💖ximately 2,500 personnel across the city. In additionꦯ to the regular traffic enforcement teams, around 250 squads will be assigned to monitor and curb instances of drunk driving. Traffic restrictions will be enforced in and around Connaught Place, starting from 8:0🍨0 PM on December 31, continuing until the end of the celebrations after midnight. Key intersections such as Mandi House, Bengali Market, and others will see vehicles restricted from entering the Connaught Place area, which will only be accessible to vehicles with valid passes. Parking availability will be limited, with designated spots near Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, and Mandi House. Unauthorized vehicles parked in restricted zones will be towed and fined.
In light of expected heavy foot traffic, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also issued an important advisory. Passengers will not be allowed to exit Rajiv Chowk Metro Station after 9:00 PM. However, entry will remain permitted until the last♏ train departs. DMRC has recommended that commuters plan their tr꧟avel around this schedule to avoid disruptions. Metro services will continue to operate on their regular schedule across the rest of the network. For those heading to New Delhi Railway Station, alternate routes such as Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street, Mandir Marg, and Rani Jhansi Road have been suggested. Commuters have been encouraged to use the metro as a more convenient mode of transport.
To avoid getting stuck in trafꦯfic, drivers are advised to steer clear of Bhairon Road/Mathura Road, particularly between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan, where c🥀ongestion is expected to be heavy. Authorities urge the public to plan ahead and follow the traffic and metro guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve.
