JP Nadda Asked Meghalaya BJP To Support Conrad Sangma's National People's Party: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Northeast pointman Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that BJP President JP Nadda has asked t🉐he state unit to support to support Conrad Sangma's National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya. 

Sarma's statement comes as no partꦜy has been able to 💙cross the majority mark of 30 in the 60-member Meghalaya assembly. Chief Minister Sangma's NPP is the single-largest party with 24 seats. It's also leading in two seats. The BJP has won two seates. 

In a tweet, Sarma also said that Sangma has reached out to senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding government formation in 𒀰Meghalaya.

He said, "Sri Conrad Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, called Amit Shah ji, Hon'ble Home Minister, and sought his support and blessings in forming the new Government. Adaraniya Sri JP Nadda ji, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has advised the state unit of BJP, Megh👍alaya to support the National People’s Party in forming the next government in Meghalaya."

Besides the NPP and BJP, the United Democratic Party (UDP) bagged 11 constituencies and the Congress won five. Newly floated Voice of the People Party (VPP) and the Trinamooꦉl Congress (TMC) won four seats each with the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead in one more constituency. The Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) and the People's Democratic have won two seats each. 

Two Independent ca𒊎ndidates have also emerged victorious in Meghalaya.

Except for Meghalaya, the picture is clear in the other two north-eastern states that went to polls last month. The BJP-Nationalist Democratic Progressive Parﷺty (NDPP) alliance emerged victorious in Nagaland and the BJP also crossed the 𓂃majority mark in Tripura.
