Uniform Civil Code To Be Implemented In Uttarakhand From January 2025: CM Dhami

According to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, all preparations have been completed for the implementation of the Un🅠iform Civil Code . With this, Uttarakhand will become the state that implements the Uniform Civil Code after independence.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday announced that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand from Jౠanua𓆉ry 2025.

According to ☂the chief minister, all preparations have been completed for this. With this, Uttarakhand will become the state to implement the Uniform Civil Code after independence💧.

He directed the officials to provide proper training to the personnel to im🐓plement the provisions of the code as well as to procure all kinds of basic facilities.

Also, it hasbeen told that the convenience of the general public should be taken care of by keeping as many seꦉrvices🦄 online as possible.

Uttarakhand And UCC | What We Know

The Uniform Civil Code for the state of Uttarakhand as a total of 39🌠2 sections. These sections are divided into four parts and seven chapters.

Across these 392 sections, the state government has covered a series of issues such as providing equal rights to women in matters of marriage, divorce, alimony and inheritaꦗnce of property.

The state 𝐆uniform civil code also bans polygamy and sets the marriageable age for men and women at 21 years and 18 years, respectively. The regist🎃ration of a marriage would also be made mandatory under the law.

Under the state UCC, failure to register a 𒀰live-in relationship would result in affine of Rs 10,000 or imprisonment of three months, or both. This law, when implemented, will be applicable to all citizens of the state, except the Schedule Tribe population.

'Unacceptable': AIMPLB opposed UCC

Back in August, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has rejected the uniform civil code and stated that such as law would be "unacceptable" for Muslims across India. 💖The statement frꦬom the Muslim board comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for the "secular civil code" in his Independence Day 2024 speech.

As per reports, an official press release from the AIMPLB stated -🍌 "The All India Muslim Personal Law Board considers the Prime Minister's call, on the occasion of Independence Day, for a Secular Civil Code and terming religious personal laws as communal ones is highly objecti♉onable."

The board added that if implemented, the civil code ꩵwould clash with Sharia law, which they would not compromise on.
