♑The star Indian pair, now under Tan Kim Her, was tested to the hilt in their second round match by Kenya Mitsuhashi and Hiroki Okamura of Japan. Chat-Chi took a 17-12 lead, but the seventh-seeded pair lost the first game. In a match which lasted 72 minutes, the former champions pulled off a 20-22, 21-14, 21-16 win.
💞Against a battle-hardened pair of Kan Min Hyuk and Jin Yong, a first meeting nonetheless, Chat-Shi will need to play their best to make the semi-finals. The Koreans also survived a three-game match, against Chiu Hsiang-chieh and Wang Chi-lin of Chinese Taipei (21-15, 19-21, 21-17).
♈The Koreans were playing with different partners until recently. Kang Min-hyuk won the World Championships with Seo Seung-jae in 2023, but the pair was split after the China Open in September last year due to Min-hyuk's military service. Jin Yong, the younger of the two, was with Na Sung-seung.
For the record, Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae have also reached the quarter-finals in Delhi, and they take on second-seeded Chinese pair of Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, the Paris Olympics silver medallists.
Other Indians to feature in the Indian Open 2025 quarter-final rounds are former champion PV Sindhu in the women's singles and unheralded Kiran George in the men's singles event.
