Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Issues Statement On PCB Officials' Absence In Final Closing Ceremony

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) complaints with respect to the absence of PCB officials at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025’s closing ceremony. (More Cricket News)

For the unversed, the PCB officials had expressed their exasperation over being overlooked during the closing ceremony of a tournament that was hostedཧ by Pakistan. 

The final of the marquee event took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium betwee🦩n India and New Zealand on Sund🌸ay, March 9.

However, no officials from the host nation were present, despite PCB Cheif Operating Officer and Tournament Director Sameer Ahmed Syed was present, he was not invited to🌳 participate in the proceedings. 

"The ICC, apparently, has said it had prepared for Mohsin Naqvi to be on stage so when he ⛄didn't show up for the final, they c🧔hanged their plan," PTI stated citing a source.

The report alsoꦿ says that PCB has rejected this explanation and is going to register a protest with the ♎ICC.

The ICC has issued a statement c😼larifying that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had been invited to attend but chose not to ta♉ke part. 

An ICC spokesperson s💝aid: “Mr Naqvi was invited and did n🗹ot travel to Dubai for the final.”

ICC also further clarified about the rules on who gets the invite for the ceremonies✱ and no exceptions were made for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
