Biography

๐ŸฆฉSaif Ali Khan was born on August 16, 1970, in New Delhi, India, to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, and Sharmila Tagore, a renowned Bollywood actress. His father was the son of the last ruling Nawab of Pataudi, a princely state during the British era. Even after Indian independence, Mansoor Ali Khan was allowed to retain the title of Nawab until 1971, when the Indian government abolished royal titles.

๐Ÿ’™After his father passed away in 2011, the villagers of Pataudi, Haryana, held a traditional pagri ceremony to symbolically crown Saif as the 10th Nawab of Pataudi. Saif attended this ceremony to honor their sentiments, though he considers it more a gesture of tradition than a formal title.

๐“กSaif has two younger sisters: Saba Ali Khan, a jewelry designer, and Soha Ali Khan, an actress. His family boasts a rich heritage. His paternal grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, was a cricketer who played for India in 1946, and his grandmother, Sajida Sultan, was the Nawab Begum of Bhopal. Saifโ€™s extended family includes notable figures such as Major General Sher Ali Khan Pataudi, who served in the Pakistan Army, and Shahryar Khan, the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

๐Ÿ’›Growing up, Saif experienced a mix of privilege and discipline. He spent his childhood immersed in both cricket and movies, though his mother described him as an impulsive and spirited child. He recalls fond memories of watching his father play cricket and credits his father's education and upbringing for shaping the family's values.

๐ŸƒSaifโ€™s early education began at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, in Himachal Pradesh. At nine, he was sent to Lockers Park School in Hertfordshire, England, and later attended Winchester College. Reflecting on his time there, Saif admits he wasnโ€™t very focused academically, although he excelled when he put in the effort.

๐ŸŽAfter completing school, Saif returned to India and briefly worked at an advertising firm in Delhi. A family friend encouraged him to appear in a television commercial for Gwalior Suiting, which eventually led him to pursue a career in films. Although his first project was canceled, Saif moved to Mumbai, excited to start his journey in Bollywood and live independently.
