The foreign ministers of the Quad countries are set to attend the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, according to India’s Mi༒nistry of External Affairs (MEA).
"The Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting is expected to take place in Washington, DC, in conjunction with President Trump’s inauguration. Further detail💝s will be shared," ANI quoted MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal as saying. India’s Eಌxternal Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, will represent the country at the event, having received an invitation from the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee.
During hi♛s visit, Jaishankar will also hold meetings with representatives from the incoming US administration, as well as other dignitaries attending the🐽 event. Japanese Foreign minister Takeshi Iwaya; Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong; and Jaishankar will have the opportunity to meet US Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the inauguration.
"At the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-Elec🀅t Donald J. Trump, as he is inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States," the MEA stated.
India was originally set to host the Quad Summit last year but the event was shifted to the US due to President Biden’s inability to travel abroad while fo📖cusing on the presidential election.
Indian officials, along with representatives from the outgoing Joe Biden administration, have been in contact with the Trump team, including Marco Rubio’s office, to ensure the continuation of key initiatives betweenꦰ India and the US. This includes the Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).
