Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Indian nationals living without proper documentation in the United States of America or elsewhe𝄹re will be repatriated if their nationality documents are🎉 provided.
On January 24, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed India's stance against illegal immigration, emphasizing its connection to organized crime. “For Indian nationals, whether in the United States or elsewhere, if they are overstayin🎀g or residing without valid documentation, we will bring them back, provided we receive the necessary documents to verify their nationality,” said Jaiswal.
On the number of people to be brought back, Jaiswal said that the evaluation is at a premature stage. Regarding the ongoing discussions on the return of illegal immigrants from the US, Jaiswal clarified, “Illegal migration and trade𝓀 are distinct issues. Our position on illegal migration is clear—we oppose it due to its link to organized crime.” On the upcoming visit of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to China, Jaiswal shared, “The visit will take place on January 26 ౠand 27. The Foreign Secretary will meet his Chinese counterpart, the Vice Minister, to discuss all matters of bilateral interest.”
He added, “This visit follows the leaders' understanding in Kazan, with subsequent meetings at the special representative and foreign minister levels. We will provide a readout after the discussions, but all issues of▨ mutual interest will be addressed.”
This comes after on January 20, following the inaugural ceremony, 47th US President Donald Trump efforts to deliver on his promise of restricting immigration in the US and to deport 🏅all those living in the country without proper documents. As per reports, some 18,000 Indians have been identified for deportation, . However, the exact number of Indians residওing illegally or without proper documentation in the US remains unclear, which could potentially add to the figure.
