In a crackdown on gender diversity programs, 4🐻7th United States President Donald Trump announced that soon he would soon sign an executive order to ensure that the US federal government officially recognises only two genders- male and female.

"As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only tw⛦o genders - male and female," Trump said.

The decision puts an end to all official policies that so far recognized a th🍌ird gender, denoted by an "X" on US passports.

According to incoming White House officials, from now onwards, genders assigned at birth cannot be changed. "These are sexes that are not changeable, and they are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality," they said, as per a report by NDTV.

Citing an official of Trump's upcoming administration, Reuters also reported that more actions ܫon diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programsಌ are expected "very soon".

Trump's anti-gender diversity stance

In ౠrecent years, transgender rights became a heavily discussed political topic in t𝓡he United States.

In the run-up to the latest US presidential elections in 2024, several Republicans urged for reversing transgender laws with a particular focus on transgender women participating in sports. Addressing the alleged issue, Donald Trump during a pre-inauguration rally said that he will take action to "keep all men out of women's sports". He's also pledged to restrict gender-a𒈔ffirming care.

Ahead of the elections as well Trump campaigned against diversity, equity and inꦅclusion policies in the federal government and corporate world.

In line with his anti-gender diversity stance, Trump during his first term as US President, declared a ban on transgender troops serving in the military and halted the recruitment of transgender personnel. However, the policy was reversed by Joe Biden after he took office in 2021.

Based on the new order, once the executive orders are signed, all government identification papers will only have the option to select gend♓er on the basis of biological reality and not self꧙-assessed gender identity.

As per reports, experts fear that Trump's decision of slashing diversity, equity and inclusion programs would receive significant backlash from civil and🦩 human rights advocates.
