At least 40 monkeys were found dead in U🗹ttar Pradesh’s Hapur, NDTV report said on Monday.
According to the report, the monkeys were fou𒁃nd dead in the bushes in Garhmuk🐓teshwar area of Hapur.
The report quoting officials from the Forest Department𒊎 said the monkeys might have been poisoned because several watermelons and jaggery c🌺ubes were found at the site.
“The police are investigating if the food items were laced🐲 with poison,” it mentioned.
It added: "A caseꦺ has been registered and the cause of their death🌠 is being probed”.
“Police and forest officials arrived at the scene after some locals compla🌱ined of a foul stench,” it said.
It stated monkeys' bodies have been sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly for autopsy.
