Temperatures dipped in many parts of north India, with parts of Himachal Pradesh witnessi♛ng co🔯ld wave conditions as a layer of dense fog was seen in most states early morning.
According to the India Meteorolog𒁏ical Department (IMD), higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced another spell of light to moderate snowfall and some parts also saw light rain.
The mercury hovered between 1-5 degrees Celsius in many parts of Himachal, while many parts of northwest India recorded temperatures between🅰 6-10 degrees Celsius.
The weather offiꦅce said under the influence of Western Disturbance,
some parts of northwest 🍷India could see some rain⛦fall and snowfall in the coming week.
No significant change in minimum tempꦛeratures is likely over northwest India during the next 48 hours and it will gradually rise
☂by 2-3 degrees thereafter, the Met department predicted in its💯 bulletin.
In Rajasthan, some places such as Bikaner, Jaipur, Kota and Bharatpur divisions recorded dense fog and reeled from cold day condi⛄tions on Friday morning, the department said.
Mount Abu, the state's only hill station, was the coldest with a temperature of 0.8 degrees Celsius. In the plains, Siroh🌳i recorded 3.8 degrees Celsius.
In the plains, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 3.8 degrees Celsius in Sirohi, followed by 4 degrees Celsius in Sikar, 6.1 degrees Celsius in Nagaur, 6.4 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 6.9 degrees Celsius in Ajmer, 7 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 7.2 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur, 7.4 d♈egrees Celsius in Phalodi, and Sriganganagar.
Almost all major cities recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. The state capital, Jaipur, recorded a temperature of 7.8 de🥃grees Celsius on Friday morning.
The minimum temperatures at most places in Kashmir have fallen after snowfall as the meteorological department forecast mainly dry w🎃eather over the next couple of days.
The higher reaches of Kashmir as well as some areas in the plains of the valley received snowfall on Thursday. Following the snowfall, cold conditions prevailed in Kashmir as the night temp꧋eratures decreased at most places, they said.
The minimum temperature in Srinag꧋ar💮 settled at minus 2 degrees Celsius on Thursday night, half a degree up from the previous night's minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7 degrees Celsiu🥃s. Pahalgam, one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 11.8 degrees Celsius, over seven degrees down from minus 4.2 degrees Celsius the night before.
Lower hills of Himachal Pradesh faced severe cold wave conditio♓ns with temperatures dropping by 3-5 degrees Celsius in some parts.
In the past 24 hours, since Thurs𒊎day morning, Kothi recorded 24 cm of snow, followed by Manali with 14.8 cm, Gondla 11 cm, Moorang 10 cm, Jot 7 cm, Kalpa 6.7 cm, Khadrala 5 cm, Pooh 4.5 cm, Sangla 4.2 cm, Keylong and Chhatrari 4 cm each, and Kufri 2.4 cm, the local Met offic🌺e reported.
Light rain occurred in some places with Bharmour receiving 10 mm of rain, foll෴owed by Seobagh with 8.2 mm, Jogindernagar 8 mm, Bhuntar 7.1 mm, Salooni 6.3 mm, Gohar 6 mm, Bajaura 5.5 mm, Rohru and Dharamshala 5 mm each, Palampur 4.2 mm and Ghumarwin and Pandoh 4 mm each.
Severe cold wave conditions were observed in Una and Hamirpur, while a cold wave was reported in Berthin and Kangra. Tabo was the coldest during the night, recording a l🐻ow of minus 13.5 degrees Celsius.
Cold-day conditions were♚ seen in Punjab and Haryana as well.
In Punjab, P𒁏athankot was the coldest place as it shivered at 2.8 degrees Celsius. Amritsar's minimum temperature was 6.9 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal; Patiala recorded 8.4 degrees Celsius, folಌlowed by 7 degrees Celsius in Bathinda, 6.9 degrees Celsius in Faridkot and 6.5 degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur districts.
Union territory Chandigarh and the commoꦅn capital of both the states recorded a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius, it said.
In neighbouring Har♔yana, Ambala's minimum was 8.5 degrees Celsius, Rohtak recorded 10.1 degrees Celsius, Karnal 7 degrees Celsius and 💛Narnaul 6 degrees Celsius.
Uttar Pradesh remains in the grip of intense cold as the morning fog on Friday reduced viꦉsibility in many parts.
Dense fog significantly disrupted mo🔥rning activities, especially in major cities like Lucknow, where it affe💃cted road traffic and caused delays in train schedules, with some running late by several hours.
In Lucknow, the cold was particularly intense in the morning due to the𝔍 combination of cloud cover and c𒁃old winds. The sun emerged in the afternoon, offering temporary relief from the biting chill.
The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dropped to 8.4 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere in the state, Etawah recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsiu𒁃s.
In Delhi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.8 degrees Celsius. The Centre's panel on Delhi-NCR's air quality on Friday revoked curbs under stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) amid a dip in pollution due to favou🍎rable meteorological conditions.
The Met office has predicted that cold𓄧 wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh till Sunday. Cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryaღna and Chandigarh on Saturday, it said.
