Hobart Hurricanes entered the final of the Big Bash League after holding their nerves to beat Sydney Sixers by 12 runs in the Qualifier at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Tuesday, January 21. (More Cricket News)

ౠHobart Hurricanes will now play the final and that too at their home ground while Sydney Sixers will get another chance to enter the final.

🔴Sydney Sixers won the toss and will bowl first in the Qualifier against Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval.

Put into bat first, Hurricanes stormed to a great start thanks to opener Mitchell Owen (36 off 15) who hit three sixes and as many fours before falling in the fifth over. The other opener Caleb Jewell added a slow 40 off 41 balls but Ben McDermott (42 off 31) and Tim David 🐽(25 off 10) almost made up for it with their quickfire cameos towards the end. In the end, Hurricanes finished at 173/7 in their 20 overs. Jafer Chouhan and Ben Dwarshius picked up a couple of wickets each for the Sixers.

At the half-way mark, it seemed the Hurricanes had left a few runs out there but their bowlers on the mark straightaway. Riley Meredith dismissed Josh Philippe ไand Moises Henriques in his first two overs while Cameroon Gannon took out Jack Edwards in his opening over and the Sixers were reduced to 5/3 in 2.2 overs.

ꦜKurtis Patterson then combined with Jordan Silk for a crucial partnership before Gannon dismissed the former. After that the Sixers could never get the accelaration they desired as Hurricanes bowlers were disciplined and smart.

🅘Chris Jordan bowled some economical overs and eventually, Hurricanes emerged as the winners as Sixers fell 12 runs short.

⭕The win takes the Hurricanes to the final of the Big Bash for the first time since the 2017-18 season where they lost the title clash to Adelaide Strikers.

🍌Sixers will now play the winner of the Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder game with the winning side advancing to the final to face Hurricanes.
