𒅌The two-time defending champions Sunrisers thus ended their league stage campaign on a high with an important victory ahead of the play-offs. For Paarl Royals, it was their second defeat on the trot ahead of their play-off clash against MI Cape Town to decide the first finalist of the season.
The Sunrisers were defending just 149 but their new ball pairing of Craig Overton and Marco Jansen 🔴wreaked havoc to kill the chase in the powerplay itself.
Both Overton and Jansen picked three wickets each to bowl the Royals out for just 100 in 18.2 overs. Skipper Aiden Markram too picked up a couple of wickets.
Earlier, Sunrisers Eastern Cape had won the toss and opted to bat first but their decision did not turn out to be a great one. Royals left-arm spinners continued his fine form and sent back both the Sunrisers openers in the powerplay. Jordan Hermann scored a half-century and Tristan Stubbs ಌgot a 43 to take the defending champions to 148/8 in 20 overs.
ꦜThe chase of 149 did not look too big until Overton and Jansen sent back half the Royals batting line-up within first four overs.
