Mohun Bagan Super Giant earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match on November 30, Saturday with Jason Cummings scoring the only goal of the match in the 86th minute. The first half of the game was a t🌱ense affair with both the Mariners and Machans unable to break the deadlock.

Chennaiyin FC had a few chances to take the lead in the second half, including a header from Wilmar Jordan that went wide in the 54th minute. Mohun Bagan, on the other hand, had their own opportunities but struggled to get past Chennaiyin’s defence. The best chance came in the 68th minute when Manvir Singh hit the crossbar with a header following a set-piec🍨e delivery.

In the 86th minute, the Australian striker Cummings pou🥂nced on a well-timed cross and calmly slotted the ball past Chennaiyin goalkeeper Mo🎀hammad Nawaz to give Mohun Bagan the lead.

The defending Shield winners now are ahead of Bengaluru FC on goal difference at the top of the 13-team standings, logging 20 points fr𒅌om nine games each.

Chennaiyin FC have 🐬12 points from 10 matches at eighth plac𓄧e.

The opening-haꦐlf was a cagey affair, with neither team managing to break the deadlock.

Mohun Bagan looked to set the tempo early, with Liston Colaco and Dimi Petratos testing Chennaiyin's defence.

However, it was the visitors who nearly drew first blood, with Irfa🉐n Yadwad and Connor Shields causing trouble for the Marinಞers' backline.

The standout moment of the half came in the 38th mi𝓰nute when Chennaiyin goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz pulled off a spectacular save to deny Colaco's curling effort.

The game remained evenly-poi🍌sed at halftime, with both sides rueing missed opport꧋unities.

The second-half saw a flurry of tactical changes, with both coaches l🍷ooking to find the breakthr꧑ough.

Mohun Bagan introduced Sahal Abdul Samad and J🎉ason Cummings in quick succession, while Chennaiyin responded with Daniel Chukwu and Lukas Brambilla to add fresh legs.

Chennaiyin pushed for an♒ equaliser in the dying minutes, but Vishal Kaith and the Mohun Bagan defence held firm, ensuring the three points stayed in ඣKolkata.
