India's pursuit of a double-digit medal tally at the Paris Olympic Games 2024 effectively commenced on Sunday (July 28), as the 22-year-old Manu Bhaker earned the nation its first medal at this edition. On Tuesday, Bhaker teamed up with Sarabjot Sin♑🌳gh to claim a second bronze medal, and also for the country. In the 10m pistol mixed team bronze medal fight, the Indian pair beat their South Korean counterparts. In the process, Bhaker became the first-ever Indian to win more than one medal in a single edition of the Games, in the post-independence era.
On Thursday, came India's third medal, again a bronze and again from shooting. In a historic first, Swapnil Kusale became the first Indian to clinch a medal in the rifle 50m 3P event as he got bronze in the men's compet🐲ition.
