Jon Jones Vs Stipe Miocic Highlights, UFC 309: 'Bones' Pulverizes Former Champ, Defends Title

A bloodied Jhonata Diniz is stopped from competing in the third round of his preliminary card heavyweight bout against Marcin Tybura, and the Polish MMA wrestler ꦺthus wins the fight. Prelim card action continues as the lightweight bout between David Onama and Roberto Romero is underway.

Uganda's David Onama beats Mexican UFC debutant Roberto Romero by unanimous decision in their preliminary card lightweight bout. The scores read 40-37, 40-37 and 40-37. “I knew he was going to 🅠bring it and that kid put on a show tonight. But I am very happy. I’m glad I got this fight because at the start of the week I had no opponent. So I want to thank Roberto for that,” the victorious Onama tells Joe Rogan after the fight.

The next prelim card fight, between American MMA wrestlers Jim Miller and Damon Jackson, ends prematurely𒈔 as Miller wins by submission in the first round. The 41-year-old adds to his UFC record by securing his 27th win. Up next, we have the bantamweight clash between Jonathan Martinez and Marcus McGhee.

The final prelim card bout of the event is now done and dusted. Marcus 'The Maniac' McGhee has defeated American compatriot Jonathan Martinez via unanimous decision in the bantamweight category. The scorecards read a uniform 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. And with that, it's time for the main card to get underway, even as United States president-elect Donald Trump makes his way into Madison Square Garden for witnessing the MMA extravagaജnza.

After the frenzy around Donald Trump, who is joined by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, subsides, we have the first fight of the main card on our h🌄ands. The 28-year-old Mauricio Ruffy from Brazil is takin🐼g on Peru's James Llontop in the catchweight section. And the Brazilian wins it by unanimous decision. The scores are 29-28, 29-28 and 29-28 again. Up next, we have the women's flyweight fight between Viviane Araujo and Karine Silva.

Karine Silva does all the early running in her flyweight clash against Viviane Araujo, landin✱g several jabs in the first round. She continues in the same vein in the second round, but Araujo bounces back strongly in the final round. Sure enough, Araujo wins the bout by unanimous decision, with the judges ruling it 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 in her favour. That last round swung it in the 37-year-old's favour. Up next, we have the main card middleweight fight between Bo Nickal and Paul Craig.

The unbeaten Bo Nickal, who boasts of a 6-0 record, is facing 𝓀UFC veteran Paul Craig. The bout is not matching the New York crowd's expectations, as loud boos can be heard from the arena. Nevertheless, Nickal wins it by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) to extend his record to 7-0. And we are now set for the co-main event, starring Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler.

The business end of UFC 309 is here. Charles 'Do Bronxs' Oliveira is locked in a lightweight tussle with Michael 'Iron' Chandler in the c♈o-main event. As against the fights earlier with three rounds, this bout features five (maximum) rounds and looks set to go all the way.

Oliveira is dominant in the first three rounds, draining Chandler out with all the body blows. The bout appears to be headed Oliveira's way but Chandler comes out of nowhere with a massive overhand right. All of a sudden, the Brazilian is jolted and the referee has to make a call whether to stop the fight. He decides ♋aga♒inst it, and Oliveira gets back on his feet.

The 35-year-old Oliveira spots an opportunity for a takedown and grabs it wiꦰth both hands. Chandler is floored again, and Oliveira has done enough to withstand the American's valiant challenge in the fifth and final round. The scores conf💙irm it. It is a unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-45) in the Brazilian's favour.

“This guy (Chandler) is one of the to💜ughest guys I have ever fought. He has all my respect," Oliveira tells Joe Rogan in the Octagon after the bout.

He꧃ adds: “Whoever🔥 is next in line I will be ready.”

All is in readiness for the sh🌌owpiece, the fight we were all waiting for. Jon 'Bones' Jones and Stipe 'Stone Cold' Miocic have entered the cage and will soon lock horns for the heavyweight title.

And we are off. The defending champion makes an imperious start, bossing the open🎃ing round as well as the second one. Jones has come out all guns blazing and is landing kicks, elbows and punches left right centre. Miocic is all at sea and must recover quickly if he has to make a match of it.

The gulf was too wide. A bridge too far to cross. Jones defends his UFC h𓆏eavyweight title in style, knocking out Miocic in the third roun🤪d as the referee decides to stop the fight after a vicious spinning back kick to Miocic's body brings him on his knees.

Seconds after losing the UFC 309 showpiece, former two-time champion Stipe Miocic tells Joe Rogan that he is retiring from mixed martial arts. “I’m done. I’m hanging up my gloves. ౠI’m retiring. Thank god.”

Jon Jones declares at the Octagon that ಞhe has no intention of retiring right now. He adds: “Everybody knows that Stipe isn’t the biggest heavyweight but he’s lean and always comes in in the best possible shape. He doesn’t react much to getting punched in the face so we worked the body.

“As far as my future in the Octagon is concerned, I have decided to not🍌 retire. I have conversations with Dana (White) and maybe if everything goes right, we’ll give you what you want toܫ see. I know we have other options. I will see what Uncle Dana wants.”
