Just five days before the Delhi🎃 Assembly elections, several sitting Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resigned from the party on Friday, citing dissatisfaction over the party’s decision to not grant them tickets for the upcoming polls.

Some media reports suggest that five MLAs have resigned while others report seven. This mass resignation marks a setback for the party, with some former members openly expressing their loss of faith in leadership, especially that of national convenor Arvind Ke♛jriwal.

The MLAs who have resigned are:

  • Bhavna Gaur from Palam

  • Rohit Mehraulia from Trilokpuri

  • Madan Lal from Kasturba Nagar

  • Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri

  • Pawan Kumar Sharma from Adarsh Nagar

  • Bhupinder Singh Joon from Bijwasan

  • Naresh Yadav from Mehrauli.

Six of these MLAs were dropp🦩ed from the list of AAP’s candidates for the 2025 Delhi🍰 Assembly elections.

In a letter to Kejriwal, Palam🐷 MLA Bhavna Gaur made i✱t clear that she was quitting the party after losing faith in both him and the AAP.

Similarly, Madan Lal, the legislator from Kasturb🅺a Nagar, echoed her sentiments in a resignation letter, stating, “I have lost fait🅠h in you and the party.”

Mehrauli MLA Naresh Yadav, who had initially been fielded as a candidate for a third term, also resigned after all✃egations in a sacrilege case against him were proven. Yadav voluntarily returned his ticket to the party, which subsequently replaced him with another candidate for the Mehrauli constituencyꦛ.

The party has fielded new faces for their constituencies, including Mukesh Goel from Adarsh Nagar, Pravin Kumar from Janakpuri, Surendra Bhardwaj from Bijwasan, Joginder Solanki from Palam, Ramesh Pehlwan from Kasturba Nagar, and Anjana Parcha from Trilokpuri. The move to replace several sittin♔g MLAs with fresh candidates was a key reason for the resignations.

The AAP has yet💦 to issue an official statement regarding the resignations.
