🍬After facing criticism for her remark on India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma 'fat', Congress leader and spokesperson Shama Mohamed clapped back by digging up an old post of actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut.

🧜Kangana Ranaut in her earlier post caught using derogatory language against cricketers.

𝔉Sharing a screengrab of Kangana Ranaut's earlier post, Shama Mohamed posted on microblogging website X, "What does Mansukh Mandviya have to say to Kangana Ranaut! #JustAsking." The backlash follows sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya's response to her remark on Rohit Sharma's fitness.

Mansukh Mandaviya's Stance

On Monday, expressing his disagreement with Shama's remark, which were also supported by Trinamool Congress 🐠MP Saugata Row, Mansukh Mandaviya said, "Congress and TMC should leave sportspersons alone as they are fully capable of handling their professional lives."

🎃He stated, "Remarks made by leaders from these parties, indulging in body shaming and questioning an athlete’s place in the team, are not only deeply shameful but also outright pathetic. Such comments undermine the hard work and sacrifices that our sportspersons make to represent the country on the global stage."

What Was The Controversial Post?

ꦿShama Mohamed, in her posts which were deleted after she was reprimanded by the Congress, Mohamed said Sharma is 'fat for a sportsman'.

"Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!" she said in remarks posted on Sunday night that came amid the Indian cricket ♓team's undefeated run so far in the ongoing Champions Trophy.

BCCI Reacts

In response, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Monday said the remarks were 'very unfortunate' and may have a demoralising effect on an individual or the team, reported PTI.

"Very unfortunate for a responsible person to pass such a trivial comment when the team is in the midst of such a marquee ICC 💯tournament. It may have a demoralising effect on an individual or the team. All the players are performing to their highest potential and results are visible. I hope individuals shall desist from making such derogatory statements for personal publicity sake at the cost of National Interest," BCCI Secretary Saikia said.
