On Sunday, in India's big win against England in the fifth T20I, Sharma finally did what the former India all-rounder wanted. Sharma stayed at the crease for 54 balls and went to record the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is. The left-hander♌ from Punjab, the same state from which Yuvraj hails, scored 135 runs in a historic knock where he broke plenty of records.
At the post-match presentation, the 24-year-old said that Yuvraj should be happy 𝄹now that he haඣs batted long.
"He (Yuvraj) should be happy after this. He always wanted me to🌺 bat till 15-20 overs. Even Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) paaji wanted the same thing. So I think today was my day and I implemented well," Sharma said while receiving the Player of the Match award in India's 150-run demolition of England.
“You can ask any player, such m♔atches are very few (and far between). I would say it was all possible because of the efforts I put in the practice, the backing I got from the coaches and the captain when I was not getting the runs or not bowling well,” Abhishek, who also picked two wickets in the game, said in the post-match press meet.
“All these things c🦹alculate (work out well) at the end and I had the belief that on my day,🌌 I will play an innings like this,” he said.
Abhishek hit 13 sixes in the game, the most by an Indian player in T20Is. He also scored the second-fastest T20I half-century by an Indian in 17 balls and reached his century in 37 balls,𒆙 the second fastest in T20I involving 🍌two full member nations.
“My mother and sister are here for the match and when your parents are here and you play an innings𒊎 like that in front of them, it makes you feel happy and proud for being able to share such a moment,” he said.
Riding on Abhishek's 135, ❀I🦩ndia reached 247/9 before bowling out England for only 97.
