Serve humanity

Love god’s creation

He taught that true devotion lies in serving humanity and upholding justice. He believed in the equality of all beings, regardless of caste, creed, or gender. His teachings promote compassion, selflessness, and the courage to stand up against oppression. By loving and respecting all of God's creations, we can attain true spiritual enlightenment.

Do not gossip or slander

Guru Govind Singh Ji emphasized the importance of mindful speech. He taught that words have the power to both heal and harm, urging his followers to choose their words carefully and speak with kindness and respect. He teaches us Kisae Dee Ninda, Chugalee, Atae Eirkhaa Nahee Karnee,ΰΆ£ which means don’t gossip or say bad words about anyone or to anyone. His teachings encouraged Sikhs to refrain from gossip, slander, and spitefulness towards others. He believed in the power of kind words and actions to foster a just and compassionate society. He outlawed all forms of gossip and instructed people not to disparage or speak ill of others, even in private. 

Equality and brotherhood

He abolished the rigid caste system, championed equality for all, and established the Khalsa Panth, a community based on principles of courage, selflessness, and service to humanity. Many of Guru Gobind Singh's 52 hukams, or directives, encourage ordinary people to live moral lifestyles. "Donate a tenth of your earnings," "Do not avoid performing virtuous acts," "Do not indulge in drinking alcoholic beverages," "Make an honest living,"🍸 and so on are examples of good moral behaviour. He recommended that one should endeavour to be a role model for others. 

Respect women and treat them equally

Guru Gobind Ji championed equality and respect for women. He granted women the title "Kaur," meaning princess, elevating their status within the Sikh community. His teachings emphasized women's spiritual and martial capabilities, encouraging them to participate in religious practices and defend their faith. He actively involved women in the Sikh movement, recognizing their strength and valor. He says, β€˜Istree Da Mooh Nahee Phitkaarnaa’ ꦇwhich means do not subject your wife to cursing or verbal abuse. He devised a novel Hukams that prohibits a man from verbally assaulting or using profanity against his spouse.

Giving one-tenth of your salary

Guru Gobind Singh Ji emphasized the importance of sharing one's wealth with those less fortunate through the practice of "Daswandh," which translates to giving one-tenthπŸŽ‰. This concept encourages Sikhs to donate a tenth of their income to the Guru's cause, recognizing that all possessions ultimately belong to the Divine and that sharing one's blessings with others is a path to spiritual growth and a more just society.

Instill the qualities of both- A warrior and a saint

πŸ’–Guru Gobind Singh Ji devised this unique blend of firmness and gentleness, which requires one to be both energetic and tender at the same time. One should be both a soldier and an interior spiritual saint. One cannot simply act as a saint and accept what has happened.
