༒After an unprecedented verbal spat at the White House with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on an X post has thanked Trump and the country for its support.
𝓡Instead of being a pivotal step towards ending the war that was initiated by Russia's invasion, the verbal spat in front of world media and the meeting seems to have worked in a different direction.
꧒Following the unprecedented verbal clash in the Oval Office, a joint press conference scheduled between Trump and Zelenskyy in the East Room of the White House was also canceled. The much-talked-about mineral deal also did not go through.
The Trump-Zelenskyy Fallout At The Oval Office
🗹The heated exchange saw a frustrated Zelenskyy lectured by Trump and Vice President JD Vance over what they saw as his lack of gratitude for previous US support, while the officials in Moscow saw it as a final breakdown in relations between Washington and the Ukrainian leader.
🍷However, minutes after his departure from the White House, the Ukrainian president in a long thread of posts on X said, "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.”
🐭"It’s crucial for us to have President Trump’s support. He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than we do. We are the ones living this war in Ukraine. It’s a fight for our freedom, for our very survival", the president added.
꧟During an intense war of words, Trump yelled at Zelenskyy accusing him of “risking millions of lives” and warning that his actions might lead to World War III.
🎐Trump and Vance also accused Zelenskyy of not being thankful for the support the US has provided over the years and said the Ukrainian leader was in a "bad position" at the negotiating table with Russia on a potential peace deal.
🅺 “Let me tell you, you don’t have the cards. With us, you have the cards — but without us, you don’t have any cards”, President trump said.
🐻Trump added later, “You have to be thankful; you don’t have the cards. You’re buried there.”
💃Before the heated exchange, a reporter asked Zelenskyy why he was not wearing a suit to the meeting in the United States’ highest office.
✤“I will wear a (suit) costume after this war finishes, yes. Maybe something like yours, yes, maybe something better. I don’t know, we will see. Maybe something cheaper. Thank you,” he said, responding in English.
