8 Dead, 11 Injured In UP's Ghazipur After Truck Collides With Passenger Van Carrying Mahakumbh Devotees

A deadly road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district claimed the lives of eight people and left eleven others injured on Friday. The i൲ncident occurred in Rওevasa village, located in the Nandganj area when a truck collided with a van carrying passengers returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

According to District Magistrate Aryaka Akhoury, the victims, who hailed from Haldichok village in Gorakhpur, were struck by the truck as they travelled back from the religious event. 🃏The truck hit the van from the side, causing the passengers to be thrown onto the road. Tragically, the truck then ran over them, resulting in multiple fatalities.

The victims who lost their lives in the🧔 tragic accident have been identified as Amar Singh (45), Surendra Gupta (54), Pushpa Yadav (40), Nitya Singh (5), Israwati Devi (45), and Lilavati (40). In addition, two more individuals, Sudha Chaurasia (55) and Shyam Sundar (45), succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, where they were being treated for their wounds.

A total of 13 people were injured in the collision, and they have been hospit🍃alis🌺ed for treatment. District authorities confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and the injured are currently receiving medical care.

In response to the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister’s Office wrote, “UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the𝕴 loss of lives in a road accident in Ghazipur district.” The statement further noted that Adityanath had instructed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and wished them a swift recovery.
