An Indian student in the United States has been in a com♋a for the past 10 days after she met with an accident. Amid the Trump administration's restrictions regarding entry into the country, the student's family has sought centre and PM Modi's intervention for urgent visas to the US.

As༺ per reports, the⛦ student has been identified as Neelam Shinde - a postgraduate student at California State University.

Shinde, who hails from Maharashtra,♒ met with an accident on February 14, 2025 after she was struck by a four-wheeler in California.

Reports further stated that Shinde suffered head injuries and fractures on her hand and leg and since then♑ ha🉐s been in a comatose state.

Tanaji Shinde, father of the student was informed two days after the acജcident. However, he added that the fa൩mily is facing difficulty in trying to get a US visa.

As per the f🧜ather, the next slot the family received was for 2026.

The family has sought help from the Minisꦍtry of External Affairs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to X, NCP (SP) Supriya Sule a🌱lso sought EAM S Jaishankar's help ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚin getting the visas for the girl's family.

"Student Neelam Shinde has met with an accident in the USA and is hospitalized in a local hospital. Her father, Tanaji Shinde, from Satara, Maharashtra, India, urgently needs to visit his daughter due to a medical emergency. Tanaji Shinde has applied for an urgent visa to the USA and requires assistance," the NC💞O leader said.

As per the official statement from the university, Shinde is "in critical condition with an uncertain prognosis and is receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit". The university has🎀 also sought for an emergency permit for the family to come to the United States.

Centre Dials US

As per reports, the Central government has reached out to the US government and sought a visa for the girl's family. Citing sources, NDTV ha🐬s reported that the External Affairs Ministry's Americas Division has reached out ꦰto the US to raise the issue formally and ask for assistance.

The MEA division has sought a visa or an emergency travel🍃 permit fo💝r the family.
