Odisha: FIR Registered In Connection With Deadly Train Tragedy; CBI Team Visits Accident Site At Balasore

In connection with the recent train accident t༒hat took place at Odisha's Balasore lat week, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Balasꦦore Government Railway Police (GRP) station.

It has been reported that the case has been filed under the 337, 338, 304A (non-bailable) &👍; 34 of the Indian Penal Code, which inc💎lude charges of "deaths caused by negligence" and 153, 154 & 175 of the Railway Act, which includes charges of "endangering safety of persons".

The Railway 🐟Ministry on Sunday sought a probe by the Central Bureau of🐼 Investigation (CBI) into the train accident.

The Railways has ruled out driver er𒈔ror and system malfunctionin🐼g, indicating possible 'sabotage' and tampering of the electronic interlocking system.

CBI team visits Balasore

A 10-member CBI team on Monday visited the Balasore train acciden🍷t site and began its probe into the triple train crash, a Railway official said.

ECoR's Khurda Road divisioꦰn DRM Rintesh Ray said thওat according to his information, the CBI probe has begun but the details were not immediately known.

The Railway Boarꦰd on Sunday recommended a CBI probe into the accident.

Earlier, Commissioner of Railway Safety Shailesh Kumar Pathak visited the accident site where he went to the control room, signal room and signal point at Bahanaga Bazaꦚr railway station.

This apart, the Government Railway Police in Balasore has registered a case on June 3 under various sections of Indian Peꩲnal Code and Railway🌱 Act over the accident.

Last Friday, in a horrific accident, a Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, headed towards Chennai, rammed intꦕo a halted goods train on the adjacent track, cℱausing rear carriages of the Coromandel Express to veer off onto the third track.

A few coaches of Cor🎉omandel toppled over the last few co🌼aches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express which was passing by at the same time.
