The joint parliamentary committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill will submit its final report to Lok Sabha today. According to the bulletin issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat Committee, Chairmen Jagdambika Pal and member Sanjay Jaiswal wﷺill table the report.
The Jagdambika Pal-led committee had submitted the report to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on ♌Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment)🌟 Bill adopted the report on the draft legislation by a 15-11 majority vote.
"We have adopted the report and the amended revised bill. For the first time, we have included a section stating that the benefits of Waqf should go to the marginalised, poor, women, and orphans. Tomorrow, we will present this report to the Speaker," he told news agency ANI on Wednesday.
"We had 44𓂃 clauses before us, out of which amendments were proposed by members in 14 clauses. We conduct🦋ed a majority vote, and these amendments were then adopted," Pal added.
The JPC adopted the draft report and the amended revised bill on Wednesday, January 29. However, the opposition leaders submitted their d𒐪issent notes on the report.
Opposition Claims Dissent Notes Were Ignored
AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi claimed parts of his dissent note on the JPC report were🥂 deleted. According to him, they just ‘stated fact🌠s.’
"I had submitted a detailed dissent note to JPC against the Waqf Bill. It is shocking that parts of my note w📖ere redacted without my knowledge. The deleted sections were not controversial; they only stated facts," he said on microblogging site X.
