൩As the winter session of the Parliament continues, a privilege notice has been filed against Union Home Minister Amit Shah due to the remarks issued by the BJP leader regarding Dr BR Ambedkar. The notice was moved by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien in the Rajya Sabha.

𝓰The TMC leader moved the notice under Rule 187 and comes amid an all-out Opposition offensive against the Home Minister, accusing him of insulting the Dalit icon in his speech in the Upper House yesterday.

Uproar Over Amit Shah's Remarks

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Rajya Sabha. Addressing the house during the constitution debate, the BJP 🎐leader said taking Dr BR Ambedkar's name had become a "fashion" now.

"Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai - Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata𝐆 (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar'. If they took God's name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven)," he said.

Amid the constitution debate, the Congress ♉and Nehru's tenure have been heavily criticised by the BJP.

🉐Shah also mentioned that Ambedkar was unhappy with the Nehru government, which is why he resigned.

🙈"Ambedkar ji has said several times that he was not satisfied with the treatment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes," said Shah, adding that BR Ambedkar was also unhappy with the government's policy approach and its stand on Article 370. "He wanted to quit (the cabinet), he was given an assurance, and when the assurance was not fulfilled, he resigned," he said.
