A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA in Maharashtra's Pune city is facing charges after reportedly slapping an on-duty police constable. The incident was captured 🌠on video and circulated on social media which took place at Sassoon General Hospital on Friday.
The legislator in question is Sunil Kamble, representing the Pune Canto🎃nment♔ constituency.
Following the constable's complaint, an official confirme♏d the registration of a case against Kamble under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of duty.
A programme was🐬 orga𝔍nised at the Sassoon General Hospital, where Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was also present.
In the video, Kamble is seen coming down the stairs after the event and slapping a man who came in his way. The person was an on-duty constable attached to the ﷺBundgarden police station, the official said.
Refutin🍬g the allegations, Kamble said, "I did not assault anyone. I was coming down the steps when someone came in the way. I pushed him and went ahead."
