Pakistan cricket is currently facing turmoil following their group-stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and now former Test coach Jason Gillespie has minced words with his successor Aaqib Javed by slamming him for the latter's comments in the media. (More Cricket News)

Pakistan suffered defeats at the hands of New Zealand and India in the group stages followed by a wash-out game against Bangladesh. However, the current head coach Javed blamed the instability within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the team's downfall.

꧅"We changed 16 coaches in the last 2.5 years and 26 selectors. If you do this to any team around the world, their performance will be like this too," Aaqib lamented.

♔"You want to take Pakistan cricket forward, then you need to have consistency and continuity in policies in our cricket, starting from the PCB chairman to the players," he added.

༒But the former Aussie pacer was not happy with that statement. Gillespie, who stepped down as Pakistan's Test team coach in December, called out Javed on social media, labelling him a 'clown'.

💫"This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary (Kirsten) and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown," Gillespie wrote.

ಌHis comments come after Pakistan's turbulent season in the cricket world, with former South Africa player Gary Kirsten stepping down as their white-ball coach, citing similar problems.

🌄Gillespie and Kirsten did make a positive impact within the Pakistan cricketing set-up but the internal issues and lack of communication led to the foreign duo resigning from their post. Although, Aaqib Javed took over and promised better results, the former pacer has not lived up to the expectations.

Pakistan have made some wholesome changes for their upcoming tour of New Zealand. The likes of Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi were left out of the ODI squad, whereas Babar Azam was retained in the 50-over format squad. Salman Ali Agha will lead the side in the T20Is.
