🦩With just four days to go for the highly anticipated Delhi Assembly elections, 8  MLAs who left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), joined the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday.

🐓All eight MLAs had resigned from the AAP just a day before, citing reasons such as alleged corruption within the party and a deviation from its founding ideology. Their decision came as the AAP denied them tickets for the upcoming elections.

The MLAs who joined the BJP ꦰinclude Vandana Gaur (Palam), Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri), Girish Soni (Madipur), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Rajesh Rishi (Uttam Nagar), B S Joon (Bijwasan), Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), and Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar).

🐈Following their resignation from AAP, the former legislators also submitted their resignation letters to the Assembly Speaker, officially relinquishing their membership of the Delhi Assembly.

ꦗFormer AAP MLA Vijender Garg and other leaders from the Kejriwal-led party also joined the BJP. The event was attended by Baijayant Panda, the BJP’s National Vice-President and In-Charge of Delhi, along with state president Virendra Sachdeva.

ཧWelcoming the defectors to the BJP, Panda described the move as a “historic” day, saying the party had successfully rid Delhi of “AAPda” (disaster). He expressed hope that, after the February 5 elections, Delhi would also be freed from the AAP.

♍The 70-member Delhi Assembly is set to go to the polls on February 5, with results expected to be announced on February 8.
