Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers 1-2 Tamil Nadu Dragons Highlights, Hockey India League

🐼Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of the Hockey India League 2024-25. Table-toppers Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers face the second-placed Tamil Nadu Dragons in the battle to take the top spot in the league.

✃Bengal Tigers are currently leading the league table with nine points from four matches. They have won three games outright while losing one. Tamil Nadu Dragons too have nine points from four matches. But they have only two outright win with one victory coming from shootout. The match that they lost also was in shootout.

🔯We are all set to begin now. Both teams are lined up for the national anthem... And here it begins.

🍰Here we go then! Rupinderpal Singh's Bengal Tigers and Amit Rohidas-led Tamil Nadu Dragons set to fight for leading the HIL 2024-25 table.

൩Bengal Tigers are in whites while Dragons are sporting dark yellow jerseys. Things have started well for both teams so far.

😼8' Very interesting first few minutes in the match so far. Both sides have gone into each other's halves but none of them have been able to make any significant attack.

🅠4' Tamil Nadu Dragons threatened to score the opening goal of the game but a last second mistake takes the ball out of the goal mouth.

ꦅMeanwhile, we have a PC on the other end for Bengal Tigers.

♚3' PC wasted by Bengal Tigers. A good injection from Abhishek but Sukhjeet just could not trap the ball well outside the D. So, a big, big opportunity wasted.

🀅Back-to-back PCs for Tamil Nadu Dragons in the last minute of the opening quarter but they can not do any damage. The first one was sent out of bounds by the first rusher and the second one was blocked well by Jamie Carr in the goal.

ꦺThat is the first quarter of the game. Both teams goalless till now. A very balanced opening quarter as both sides have stood well.

14' Tamil Nadu Dragons score!!! 🍸Karthi Selvam finds the net. Second goal for the local boy this season. Uttam Singh cuts towards the goal from the baseline and finds Karthi who beats Jamie Carr in the Bengal goalpost to get the scoreboard moving. Brilliant opening for the second quarter for the Dragons.

7' PC for Tigers... And a brilliant drag flick from Jugraj Singh ꦐbut saved well by David Harte in the Dragons goalpost.

🃏Meanwhile, two green cards for Tamil Nadu and currently they are playing with just nine men. They will be like that for a minute more perhaps.

3' End to end hockey 🍎going on in this game. But it has been some time we saw a real danger in any goalpost. We have not seen even a PC for some time now. But both sides are consistently hovering around each other's circles.

There is the hooter. Karthi Selvam put the Dragons ahead with a goal in the starting of the second quarter. The Tigers have tried hard since then but David Harte and Amit Rohidas 🀅along with other Dragons defenders have done well to keep a clean sheet till now.

♌Third quarter is underway now. Tamil Nadu attacked early on in the third quarter but saved well by Bengal Tigers defence. Dragons continue to lead.

Bengal Tigers score!!! ✃Penalty stroke for the Tigers and Rupinder Pal Singh converts it with ease. The stroke was preceded by back-to-back PCs. The second one was blocked right in front of the goal by postman and a penalty stroke was given. Harte chose to go left but Rupinder Pal Singh goes left and levels score.

Tamil Nadu Dragons score!!! 🎶Uttam Singh finds the net. Ludwig enters the D on the right side and passes it to his left where Uttam Singh is in the right place to receive the ball and steer it into the goal. The first goal for Uttam and he is impressing everyone with his show.

ꦰThree minutes left in the quarter and Bengal Tigers are trying their best to level scores again. But the score is stuck at 2-1. Six PCs in this quarter for the Tigers but not even one converted. That is disappointing.

Rupinder Pal Singh misses Penalty Stroke!!!🌃 Just under two minutes on the clock in this quarter and a huge moment in the match. Massive miss. Another Penalty Stroke and it seemed the scores would be level. However, Rupinder misses to the left. Total miss.

ꦡThe hooter sounds again and an exciting quarter ends. Bengal Tigers led in every single metric in this quarter except the one thing that matters the most: goals. Both sides scored once in the last fifteen minutes and the score is still in the favour of Tamil Nadu Dragons.

Around six minutes into the final quarter and we have seen a super save from David Harte. Sukhjeet Singh 👍stole the ball ran like a bullet but Harte came out of his goal and made a clean tackle to get the ball away just inside the D. Tigers get a PC.

🍃10 PCs so far for the Tigers and they have failed to convert any. Really poor from Bengal Tigers and really really good work from the defence of Tamil Nadu Dragons. All thanks to Amit Rohidas and David Harte.

꧂We are into the final minute now. Dragons are a man down and Tigers have added a player in the outfield for their goalkeeper.

ꦓThere comes the final hooter. Bengal Tigers lose 1-2 to Tamil Nadu Dragons.

🥃Bengal Tigers looked the better side after the first quarter but they kept missing chance after chance after chance and in the end, they have lost 1-2 to Tamil Nadu Dragons, who move up to the top of table with an important win.

ওKarthi Selvam opened the scoring early in the second quarter to hand Tamil Nadu the lead. The equaliser came from Rupinder Pal Singh's penalty stroke in the third quarter. However, the Dragons once again got the lead via Uttam Singh's field goal. Rupinder got another stroke but he missed and his side wasted as many as 10 PCs. So, ultimately it was a deserved win for the Dragons whose defence stood out.

💟Tamil Nadu Dragons jump to the top of the standings now with 12 points. Bengal Tigers on the other hand have now faced back-to-back defeats and they are at the second spot.
