President-elect Donald Trump꧟, who will take the oath of office on January 20, has pledged to carry out the largest deportation operation in US history. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Trump will begin his first day in office by initiating a significant immigration raid in Chicago. The raid, set to last a week, will involve up to 200 officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

🐷However, the report has indicated that the crackdown will not be confined to Chicago alone, with ICE planning raids across the country. Major cities such as New York and Miami are expected to see substantial arrests of illegal immigrants. "We are going to be doing operations all across the country... You are going to see arrests in New York. You are going to see arrests in Miami," a source told the Wall Street Journal.

During his campaign, Trump strongly criticized Joe Biden's border policies, particularly regarding illegal immigration🌊. His incoming ICE head, Tom Homan, has already signaled the aggressive approach, warning Chicago's mayor of legal action if he obstructs the operation. "We’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois... And if the Chicago mayor doesn’t want to help, he can step aside. But if he impedes us, if he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien, I will prosecute him," Homan stated.

ꦫReports also suggest that Trump will mobilize government agencies to facilitate a record number of deportations. The outgoing Biden administration deported 271,000 undocumented immigrants last year, the highest figure in a decade, surpassing the deportations from Trump’s first term in office, according to a BBC report.

📖In addition to the raid, Trump is expected to sign the Laken Riley Act as his first bill, which mandates the detention of migrants accused of theft or violent crimes. The bill is named after Laken Riley, a student killed by a Venezuelan man in Georgia last year.
