ꦅDays after the Central government slated a meeting with protesting farmers on February 14, Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian raised his objections to the delayed date for the meeting.
🅠Speaking to media, Khuddian has stated he will write to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and raise a protest.
𝔍As per the Punjab minister, the Centre has "bought time" by delaying the meeting by three weeks, especially after getting Dallewal to take medical aid.
"They wanted Dallewal to take medical aid without promising anything. And they wanted that before the Delhi Assembly polls and now they have got it. Even the 121 farmers, who were on hunger strike, have also called off their fast. I will soon write to Chouhan. I will seek an appointment to meet him and register my protest,” he was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
🍃Khuddian added that the dialogue should have taken on the same place and the Centre should have made an offer.
♎Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal remains on a drip. As per doctor's advice, the SKP non political leader has been shifted to a room from his trolley.
👍Dallewal went on hunger strike on November 26, 2024, as part of an effort to get the Centre to meet with the protesting farmers. On January 18, 2025, he agreed to take medical aid after 50 days of fasting.
♓Despite the medical aid, Dallewal will continue his fast-unto-death. A jatha of 121 farmers from Punjab and Haryana had also began their hunger strike but called it off once Dallewal received aid.
📖With the Delhi March still under reconsideration, farmers will continue ahead with their nationwide tractor march on January 26, 2025.
ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚIn a show of solidarity, many khap panchayats in Haryana have pledged their support and stated they would join in the tractor march.
"We have decided to fully support the farmers’ agitation and will ensure maximum participation in the tractor march on January 26,” Satish Singh, chairperson of the coordination committee was quoted as saying by the Tribune.
